On the 9th October 2019 (Wednesday) in the National Archaelogical Institute with Museum was officially opened the exhibition “Tomić Psalter in Bulgaria. Literature and spirituality”, organized together with the State Historical Museum – Moscow and with the support of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Centre for Slavo-Byzantine Studies “Prof. Ivan Dujčev”, Ministry of Culture, Sofia Municipality and Bulgartransgaz EAD. This exhibition is part of the events, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

For the first time in Bulgaria, Tomić Psalter will be in the National Archaelogical Institute with Museum until the 8th December 2019. This is one of the most valuable and illuminated manuscripts of the medieval Bulgaria from the XIVth century. The psalter is part of the collections of the State Historical Museum – Moscow and has undergone a long restoration. It is a (private?) prayer book, consisting of 305 pages and illustrated with 109 miniatures.

At the press conference was signed a protocol for the transfer of the digital copies of the Tomić Psalter, provided by the State Historical Museum – Moscow, to the Central Library, St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library and University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Our readers could see the digital copy of this valuable manuscript in the reading room “Acad. Stefan Panaretov”.
